Become a Saving South Texas Foster

Fosters families are one of the most important parts of Saving South Texas and we're always looking for more! Sometimes, our animals need a landing spot until they find their forever family or can be taken to their final destination on transport.

If you’re interested in fostering with us, please fill out the application below. You can view our foster handbook here.

Want to help but can't commit to fostering? We always need sitters!

Foster faqs

Please email us at savingsouthtexas@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We cover all medical costs for your foster animal and can provide supplies such as food, crates, leashes, collars and toys when available.

  • Provide a safe, clean and loving environment
  • Monitor any medical and/or behavioral issues
  • Transport to and from vet appointments
  • Transport to and from SST adoption events
  • Provide pictures and videos of the foster animal to the SST team
  • Be responsive and communicate with the SST team

We ask that you keep your foster animal until it is adopted or transported. We are unable to give an exact timeframe as each animal is unique.

All of our animals are fully vetted and we try to get as many behavioral notes on them as possible before we intake; however, we ask that you keep your foster animal separated from your personal animals for a few days and then follow proper slow introduction protocols.

We have fosters all across south and central Texas.

You will have two weeks to decide if you want to adopt you foster animal once you receive them. After that point, adoption applicants will have first choice.
